Progressive disclosure

Complex systems can be broken down into unfolding hierarchies of information

Progressive disclosure provides an intuitive, deductive process of telling you only what you need to know for a specific decision point. The concept of progressive disclosure is the most prevalent and sound doctrine for wayfinding best practices.

A prodigious amount of research clearly shows that too much information is as bad as none.

Dividing the journey into manageable areas allows for high level wayfinding to specific areas and then more detailed wayfinding within those areas.

Critical to the success is co-ordinating the information from the beginning of the journey.
